Exercises for Seeing Captures and Checks

THE BASIC IDEA:  By clicking on a chess diagram, you mark the starting and ending squares for all moves that could make a capture or give check. The moves you find are automatically notated. The exercises are done under time pressure. Feedback is provided after each turn.

Seeing Captures and Checks I:   In this version of the exercise, you do not need to visualize future moves. Your job is to find captures and checks that could be made on the next move. Diagrams are labeled to help players who are not experienced with reading chess notation. Two minutes are provided for each turn.

Seeing Captures and Checks II:   Before clicking on the diagram in this exercise, players must imagine what the board will look like after one or more moves have been made. Clicks should be based on what the diagram would look like AFTER the listed moves are made. Players choose how many moves they want to look ahead, and how much time they'll have for each turn.
